Day EIGHT
May 19th, 2009May 18th:
Good-bye, Tampa!!!
Click here to hear good-byes from Adverbia
Some of the Adverbia team attended the first color-correction session at CRASH+SUES soon after the plane landed in Minneapolis. Keep up on Adverbia to learn how you can view the film!
Day SEVEN
May 18th, 2009May 17th:
Last day in Florida! Here’s a look behind-the-scenes of production:
Now that our project is in post, we’re going to be taking our film to CRASH+SUES, a postproduction company back in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for color correction.
Day SIX
May 16th, 2009May 16th:
Adverbia went to Clearwater Beach today and took a sun break from postproduction. Now we’re ALL a shade darker than we were when we first got there!
Day FIVE
May 15th, 2009May 15th:
Today was Adverbia’s first full day of postproduction. The editor, director, and script-supervisor sat down and discovered how many things DIDN’T happen during production and learned the process of “working with what you have.” The sound and audio people spent all day securing music to use for the film, contacting local artists for permission to use their songs, communicating with the composer who is working from Minnesota (see Tom Marchant under The Crew), and searching through other free music sources on various computers and websites.
Today was also supposed to be the day of SEED, Adverbia’s film festival. Due to a lack of participation and advertising, this event didn’t happen. Instead the team ate dinner at Faith Baptist Church in Lakeland, spent an hour sitting outside a Winterhaven Coffee Shop to catch some wireless, and then returned to the host homes for another night of “rest.”
Along with being the first day of postproduction and the alleged film festival, today was also Adverbia’s last day at NFocus. It was sad to lose our homebase and the solidarity that conference room gave us as a team, but I’m sure we’ll forget about all of that once we’re roasting on Clearwater beach tomorrow afternoon!
Stay tuned for another video that will be going up this weekend! And check out the “Media” page, where you can watch, listen, and read about Adverbia.

Day FOUR
May 14th, 2009May 14th:
After a full day of shooting, Adverbia is on the verge of postproduction, with film editor Brian Shoberg now jumping into the creative flow of ideas by turning all of the footage into a movie!
Also after a full day of shooting, all of us have darker tints of either red or brown now characterizing our skintones. Some more red than others.
Some of the higlights of the day were our adorable kid actors who played the younger versions of two of the characters out on the Orange Grove. Sam and Jackson did awesome on set, and it was fun for the crew to hang out with them, get to know them, work with them, and take care of them. The house where a few scenes were shot at was owned by an energetic and vibrant family of six wonderful kids: Jordan, Abby, Hannah, Grace, Noah, and Luke. Their mom was so helpful in getting the house ready, and the kids were just so fun to have around. The day ended with an arrest. The Polk County police pulled over the main character for driving under the influence.

Today was also our last day of shooting, which meant saying good-bye to the awesome actors who came from the Orlando area to be a part of the project. Make sure to listen to the interview with the some of the cast posted in the Day THREE update.
We ended the day under the light Florida rain, standing in a circle and praying to the One who got us through an intense two days of shooting. Ultimately, we stood there more “one” than we were when we first arrived.

Day THREE
May 13th, 2009May 13th:

We all survived the first day of shooting, and the Adverbia team is proactively dealing with each eventful day by debriefing as a team about the conflicts, tensions, ups, and downs of the end of it.
Things are working; things aren’t working. The first scene on the shooting schedule was shot in the wrong format. The next scene shot on the football field took a long time gave everyone a darker skin shade, compliments of the Florida sun’s heat. Audio equipment batteries started dying on set and slowed down the process, putting things behind schedule. Then the rain came at the end of the day and washed all of Adverbia’s troubles away….
Ultimately, all of you following us out there and supporting our project can continue to pray for the team dynamic, as producing a film is a high-energy, fast-paced, put-the-pressure-on type process; and the team is making strides in our communication with one another and in our own learning journey of the film industry.
On a more spiritual note and in conclusion, Tuesday night Adverbia had the opportunity to spend time with a man who has been influential in our very own William Allen’s life, his pastor Nate Osborne. Pastor Osborne encouraged all of us in the truth of what is to live out Christian love to one another so that we can be one, Jesus’ prayer and passion for his people. I think it was what we all needed to hear before the first day on set.
Side note: Happy Birthday to screen writer and Adverbia member Jonathan Vinson! He turned 20 today.
Day TWO
May 12th, 2009day one recap:
May 12th:
We’re spending our second night with our host homes now in preparation for the first day of shooting. Today was tedious and productive prep work, printing off sheets, writing up contracts, trips to Orlando and Tampa, taking ownership of our roles, and updating all of you.
A day of 92 degree heat ended in a classic Florida rainfall, and the Adverbia group experienced an authentic encounter with a special man in William Allen’s life, the pastor of Faith Baptist church in Lakeland. He inspired us, moved us, and reminded us to love each other this week in a way that tangibly tells the world about Christ.
After a day of preparation and the tension and conflict that so often accompanies this kind of work, it was what we all needed to hear.
Call time is 8:30 tomorrow morning! See you there!

Day ONE
May 12th, 2009May 11th:
We are Adverbia and we are in Florida! The team arrived at the Tampa Airport around 5:00 p.m. Florida time, and were already running into issues trying to leave the airport and get to Nfocus for casting calls.
Listen to the team: interviews
The casting calls were successful. Adverbia members Nick Gerrard, Adam Thul, Jonathan Vinson, and Kelli McKeeman listened to and watched a number of actors from the Florida area read parts from the script. The decisions have been made, the script is complete, and shooting is scheduled to begin Wednesday.
